Steven J. Backman has been creating one-of-a-kind toothpick art for nearly 50 years. What began as a childhood hobby has become a passion for creating world renowned toothpick art.

Steven has created a miniature replica of the coronavirus from a single toothpick. It contains several details, including spike proteins that are part of the RNA virus. The toothpick framework incorporates lines of latitude and longitude, representing the world which has been effected by this pandemic.

During a recent interview, Steven said "I wanted to use my unique art form to create a replica of the COVID-19 virus everyone can relate to. I did not use loupes or magnification to assemble this sculpture. I only used my eyes.
