The Tourism Authority of Thailand celebrated the reopening of its borders for travellers from the Middle East with an intimate dinner event, ’Get Ready For Amazing Thailand 2021’, at Benjarong Restaurant, Dusit Thani Hotel, featuring Thai-inspired remixes by DJ Bliss.

The event showcased a live cooking demonstration of Thai Massaman Curry which is recognised as the number one dish by CNN Travel’s ‘The World’s 50 Best Foods’, followed bya Muay Thai ritual performance, ‘WaiKhruRam Muay’.

“We are excited to announce the reopening of our borders after taking all the necessary precautions. The support of public and private sector partners has enabled us to elevate the travel and tourism industry standards with the introduction of the‘Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration’ (SHA) certificate, developing confidence among international and domestic travellers,” said Pichaya Saisaengchan, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand for Dubai and the Middle East.

“We look forward to starting 2021 on a positive note as we convey to travellers from the region to ‘Get Ready for Amazing Thailand 2021’.We want to encourage Arab Millennials and travellers from the Middle East, to experience sustainable tourismwhile engaging with local communitiesby discovering off-the-beaten path regions such as Kanchanaburi, Tratand Phang-Nga.

During the gathering, the Tourism Authority of Thailand tested the attendees’ knowledge of Thailand through entertaining quizzes and offered exclusive giveaways, including complimentary stays from various hotels sponsors in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket, Krabi and Samui. Thailand announced the reopening of its borders to travellers from the Middle East in November with the introduction of the ‘TR’ tourist visa which enables tourists to visit Thailand for up to 60 days. Recently, 5 GCC Nationals (UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar) can enter Thailand without visa and stay up to 30 days including a 14-day quarantine upon arrival. The updated tourist visa aims to revive Thailand’s international tourism following the success of its domestic travel campaign.

Travellers looking to visit the Thailand from the Middle East can reach out to the Thai Embassy or Consulate in their home country with the required documents. Once approved, travellers can then apply for a Certificate of Entry (CoE) on the official Thai Government website.
