Dubai Land Department (DLD) successfully concluded its participation in the second edition of the ‘Future Blockchain Summit 2019,’ which was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as part of its ongoing efforts to highlight its ambitious initiatives and future plans to support the real estate sector in the Emirate.

DLD, through its technical arm Emirates Real Estate Solutions (ERES), prepared for this event in advance, and succeeded in highlighting its role through its participation in a major workshop titled ‘Blockchain 101’ to present its vision of the future of real estate as well as the initiatives adopted in this regard, including the Drb project which was presented at the DLD stand. In addition, DLD participated in another workshop entitled ‘Dubai Reinvents Realty.’

HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, said: “Our participation in the second edition of the ‘Future Blockchain Summit 2019’ aims to support the vision of our wise leadership and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to position Dubai as a global capital of innovation and to apply the ‘Dubai Blockchain Strategy’ in light of the impact this emerging technology has had in developing all the economic sectors and bringing forth a qualitative leap in the performance of government work, providing integrated services characterised by ease and convenience. We are delighted to have had strong participation in this year’s edition, in collaboration with the Dubai Smart Government. "

During the first workshop (Blockchain 101), which was presented for the first time in Arabic, Khalifa Al Zeraim, CEO of Emirates Real Estate Solutions(ERES), joined a group of international experts in sharing insights on issues related to adopting and promoting the use of this technology on a global scale. During the workshop, Khalifa Al Suwaidi, CEO of ERES, delivered the opening speech, highlighting the future of the real estate sector and future plans as well as the challenges facing this sector and the ways in which quick and easy services may be provided in coordination with all the relevant parties within a unified blockchain network. This will ensure the elimination of routine procedures to save time, effort, and money for the various parties involved in this sector. Mureed Basheer Mustafa, Director of Operations at ERES, delivered a speech named ‘Dubai Reinvents Realty,’ during which he introduced DLD as well as presented cases to utilise blockchain and milestones from DLD’s journey in take advantage of this technology. He also listed a set of facts that distinguish Dubai’s real estate sector and position it as a leader in the Middle East.

The Dubai Smart Government hosted the first event of its kind in the world on 2 – 3 April at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where thousands of participants were briefed on the latest developments and technology applications. The summit was a valuable opportunity for experts and startups to communicate, share knowledge, and accomplish achievements, taking note of what the technology has achieved to date and the importance of global cooperation for blockchain applications and tackling many of the challenges facing the world.

In its second edition, the event addressed many topics, covering many areas, including real estate, finance, healthcare, logistics, and a platform to showcase the latest developments in blockchain technology in Dubai’s real estate sector.
