OpenAI introduced GPT\u20116 Astra, on Thursday, its latest AI model and \u2014 according to the company \u2014 its most powerful and capable one yet.<\/p>\n
OpenAI claims that Astra represents \u201ca new frontier on computer and browser use,\u201d and that it handles tasks with unmatched \u201cspeed, accuracy, and safety.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201dAstra is our most aligned model, with substantial improvements in understanding user intent and model behavior\u2014you can delegate tasks with greater confidence in Astra\u2019s judgment. As one way that we test this, we built a new evaluation informed by the Hugging Face incident that evaluates whether a model facing a difficult or impossible task will go beyond its intended scope. Compared to GPT\u20115.6 Sol, which without production safeguards went beyond the authorized target 48% of the time, GPT\u20116 Astra did this in 0% of cases, \u201d the company said.<\/p>\n
The model is being made available Thursday to OpenAI customers that use Daybreak, its cybersecurity programme. Over the next week, it will also become available through OpenAI\u2019s paid plans \u2014 including Pro, Plus, Enterprise, and Business accounts \u2014 as well as through its API.<\/p>\n
OpenAI president Greg Brockman said that Astra was the company\u2019s \u201cmost intelligent and, also very importantly, our most aligned model yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
