Five-time major winner\u00a0Rory McIlroy\u00a0has endorsed the MENA Golf Tour\u2019s<\/a> role in building pathways from the region to the game\u2019s biggest stages.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think any region in the world that provides pathways for players to play and gets bigger stages, I think is a really good thing,\u201d said McIlroy, speaking ahead of the Abu Dhabi<\/a> HSBC Championship at Yas Links<\/a> which teed off today (Thursday).<\/p>\n

The MENA Golf Tour relaunches later this month in Portugal with\u00a0Q School at Troia Golf Course, (20\u201322 November)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0entries close 15 November\u00a0\u2013 before the\u00a0regular season\u00a0begins the following week with the\u00a0PGA Aroeira Challenge (25\u201327 November)\u00a0and the\u00a0Rolear Algarve Classic at Amendoeira (2\u20134 December). The schedule then moves into a four-event\u00a0Egypt Swing\u00a0in January\u2013February, heads to\u00a0Morocco\u00a0(including the mid-season\u00a0Q-Sprint\u00a0at Al Houara on\u00a022\u201323 February), continues with a\u00a0Jordan\u00a0double-header at Ayla, and concludes with two events in the\u00a0GCC.<\/p>\n

Putting players first, all\u00a0regular season\u00a0events carry\u00a0guaranteed, tax-free USD $100,000 prize funds\u00a0with\u00a0payouts initiated within 48 hours, and a sensible routing to minimise travel time and cost. The\u00a0Q-Sprint\u00a0offers newcomers a second chance to qualify for the back half of the season and lets current members improve category via re-rank with a purse\u00a0of USD $50,000.<\/p>\n

The MENA Golf Tour is the region\u2019s\u00a0only OWGR-recognised professional circuit, offering professionals the opportunity to earn\u00a0Official World Golf Ranking points\u00a0and progress to higher-level competition.\u00a0WAGR points\u00a0are also available for elite amateurs aiming to climb the ladder.<\/p>\n

MENA Golf Tour Chairman and Commissioner\u00a0Keith Waters\u00a0said McIlroy\u2019s comments underline the Tour\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n
