The ongoing pandemic and the surge in digital services are making cloud the centerpiece of new digital experiences, said Gartner, Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is no business strategy without a cloud strategy,\u201d said\u00a0Milind Govekar<\/a>, distinguished vice president at Gartner. \u201cThe\u00a0adoption and interest in public cloud continues unabated as organizations\u00a0pursue a \u201ccloud first\u201d policy for onboarding new workloads.\u00a0Cloud has enabled new digital experiences such as mobile payment systems where banks have invested in startups, energy companies using cloud to improve their customers\u2019 retail experiences or car companies launching new personalization services for customer\u2019s safety and infotainment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2022, global cloud revenue is estimated to total $474 billion, up from $408 billion in 2021. Over the next few years, Gartner analysts estimate cloud revenue will surpass noncloud revenue for relevant enterprise IT markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During\u00a0Gartner IT Symposium\/Xpo EMEA<\/a>, taking place virtually through Thursday, Gartner analysts discussed how cloud\u00a0will become the pervasive style of computing in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Use of Cloud-Native Technologies Will Be Pervasive, not Just Popular\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gartner analysts said that\u00a0more than 85% of organizations will embrace a cloud-first principle by 2025 and will not be\u00a0able to fully execute on their digital strategies without the use of\u00a0cloud-native<\/a>\u00a0architectures and technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAdopting cloud-native platforms means that digital or product teams will use architectural principles and capabilities to take advantage of the inherent capabilities within the cloud environment,\u201d said Govekar. \u201cNew workloads deployed in a cloud-native environment will be pervasive, not just popular and anything noncloud will be considered legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n By 2025,\u00a0Gartner estimates that\u00a0over 95% of new digital workloads will be deployed on cloud-native platforms, up from 30% in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As the operating model changes,\u00a0the organization will turn to a\u00a0product-orientated operating model where\u00a0the entire value stream of the business and IT will have to be aligned by products. This will create new roles and responsibilities, such as site reliability engineers, product managers or communities of practices. Low-Code and No-Code Technologies Use Will Nearly Triple by 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Application development will shift to application assembly and integration. The\u00a0applications will be assembled\u00a0and composed by the teams that use them.\u00a0\u201cThe technological and organizational silos of application development, automation, integration and governance will become obsolete,\u201d said Govekar. \u201cThis will drive the rise of\u00a0low-code<\/a>\u00a0application platforms (LCAPs) and citizen development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
