A vibrant line-up of summer activities for youth and children have been curated by Sharjah throughout August. The smiling emirate is bustling with diverse workshops across its iconic destinations including the House of Wisdom, Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah Youth, Islamic Botanical Garden, Sharjah Museums and Al Noor Island to inspire exploration, and promote creativity and skill development.

House of Wisdom: Programming, innovation, and crafts

The House of Wisdom invites children and youth to explore their creative and innovative side until the end of August as part of their Summer Camps 2024. Workshops include digital innovation, programming, embroidery, 3D soap mould design, creative crochet, baking, and speciality coffee making, offering a vibrant environment for young minds to discover and hone their unique talents.

300 professional and artistic activities by Sharjah Youth

Sharjah Youth presents ‘Your Summer with Us 2024,’ featuring 300 diverse activities for ages 13 to 18. From arts and sciences to technology and sports, the programme includes over 100 foundational Skills Lab courses covering professional skills, fine arts, science and technology, cinematic arts, and Islamic civilisation arts. Activities are held at centres in Wasit, Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Dibba Al-Hisn, promising endless learning and fun for participants.

Sharjah Museums: Unearth fossils and dive into marine life

The Natural History and Botanical Museum in Sharjah are hosting workshops targeting participants aged 3-15, focusing on fossils, volcanoes, and the natural environment. Activities like mask-making and face-painting help develop children’s skills. The Sharjah Museums Authority will also host the Happy Holiday camp for children and youth from August 12-15, featuring workshops on ‘Marine Professions’ and ‘Marine Creatures’.

Cultivate curiosity at the Islamic Botanical Garden

Children and youth participating in the Islamic Botanical Garden’s educational and recreational workshops will create natural ink from Arabic gum, and craft clay medallions inspired by the garden’s flora. Both activities provide unique opportunities to discover the enriching connection between nature and knowledge and gain deep insights into the benefits of various plants.

Get creative at Sharjah Art Foundation

Sharjah Art Foundation is hosting free art workshops throughout the month. At the Sharjah Art Institute, participants can explore a variety of arts with workshops like “Stitch on Cardboard” on August 15 at Al Madam Art Centre. At Al Dhaid Art Centre, children can learn about various types of wood, and discover how to create, fix and assemble sculptural works in wood during the “Sculpt on Wood” workshop on August 21 and “Introduction to Face Sculpting” on August 25. Al Hamriyah studios also offers a “Create a Ceramic Board Game” workshop on August 25.

Closer to nature on Al Noor Island

Weekends at Al Noor Island promise a delightful blend of fun and learning, sparking the imagination of young visitors with activities and workshops running until September. Kids can enjoy workshops like ‘Young Gardener,’ ‘Butterfly Collage,’ and ‘Art in Nature,’ alongside various crafts and colouring activities.
