Following the significant profile that nuclear achieved at the UN COP 26 summit, Rolls-Royce SMR Ltd will present their transformative SMR technology and its role in global carbon reduction at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, 17 – 19 January. This marks the first international presentation by Rolls-Royce SMR Ltd in 2022.

Participation at WFES will be led by Tom Samson, Rolls-Royce SMR’s CEO. During the summit we will demonstrate how Rolls-Royce SMR’s technology can play a major role in deploying green scalable power. At a time when the worldis fully committed to decarbonising industries and transitioning towards cleaner sources of energy, the RR SMR proposition offers the opportunity to fast-track emission reduction goals locally and globally.

Tom Samson said: “COP26 restated and refocused the global commitment to decarbonisation and our SMR technology can enable and accelerate that process, especially in energy intense industrial sectors. SMRs are a compelling offering in domestic power, with one reactor providing enough green electricity for one million homes.”

Each SMR delivers 470MW of clean power, which is ideal for the production of low carbon hydrogen, synthetic aviation fuels, desalination of water and energy intensive users such as data centres or aluminium/steel production. SMRs can also feed green electricity into national networks and micro-grids, offering a continuous, scalable and cost-effective clean energy solution to generate power. Most importantly, Rolls-Royce SMR technology is seen as an enabler of policies which tackle the critical global threat of climate change.

During WFES Rolls-Royce SMR will present an SMR case study and join a panel debating the decarbonisation of industry at the Climate and Environment Forum taking place on Tuesday 18 January. The following morning, they will participate in the British Chamber of Commerce Abu Dhabi’s own event linked to clean energy and Abu Dhabi’s Sustainability Week.
