Spotify, the world’s most popular music streaming platform, continues to embark on international journeys for creators from the Middle East and North Africa, connecting them with existing and new audiences from all over the globe. That is why, in 2018, Spotify created its Arab Hub to celebrate and educate fans about the region’s diverse music cultures and Arab creators including megastar Nancy Ajram. Now, on the heels of her newest album, Nancy 10, and to honor her leading influence on Arabic music to date, Nancy Ajram is lighting up Spotify’s Times Square billboard in New York City as the first Arabic singing female artist to ever appear on this placement. The album will be supported by a series of on and off-platform promotional activities marking Spotify’s ongoing commitment to elevating female artists’ stories from the Middle East and North Africa to the rest of the world.
“We continue to use the power of Spotify to champion Arabic voices from the region, creating opportunities for them to be seen and heard on the global stage. We have the tools and reach to help artists build their brand through our campaigns. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with a leading female icon like Nancy Ajram on her latest album,” commented Rami Mohsen, Spotify’s Head of Music, MENA.
Ajram’s immense fandom around the world and dedication to her career in music since the age of eight makes her no stranger to Europe and the USA. The legendary artist played sold-out arenas around the world and has become one of the most beloved Arab singers with a massive listening base in the USA, which became the number one country streaming her music on Spotify, followed by Germany and France.
“Music resonates louder than anything. A form of self-expression that translates an experience, a thought, a feeling, and sometimes your wisdom. Throughout the years I have poured myself into my music and shared this journey with people from all around the world. It’s my dream and I am happy that it became my truth. It’s my escape and in it, I find my freedom,” Ajram tells Spotify.
Nancy 10 once again reflects the star’s immense talent and her knack for storytelling. The album contains 14 tracks mixed between Egyptian, Lebanese, and Khaleeji dialects, with cinematic visuals that call to mind familiar places that evoke feelings of comfort and joy, especially in the midst of the pandemic. With a string of hits including “Hobbak Bi Ye’wa” (Your love gets stronger), “Gayya Maak” (Coming with you), “Salamat” (Hello), the Khaleeji song “Ya Nas Goulouli” (Tell me people), and Lebanese singles Baddi Hada Hebou (I want someone to love), and “Hayda Ana” (This is me), Ajram’s Pan-Arab crossing sound and relatable lyrics make her newest effort the perfect 10.
Adding her thoughts on collaborating with Spotify, Ajram commented, “Today, Spotify and I have joined forces to deliver the best music experience to you, whatever you’re feeling and wherever you are.”
