The 11th edition of the annual World of Fashion (WoF) event has returned with trendsetting activations, stylish art and inspirational award shows in addition to exciting virtual activations featuring some of the fashion industry’s biggest names.
Taking place at Mall of the Emirates until 17 October, WoF is the centrepiece of this year’s F/W20 campaign. A major highlight on the region’s high fashion, arts, culture and social calendars, WoF 2020 boasts a diverse range of events including art installations plus the highly regarded Arab Women’s Award.
On Thursday 15 October, WoF will host an extra special announcement for this year’s Arab Women Awards from 12pm to 2pm. On Friday 16 October WoF will feature a multi-brand Kids Party featuring Burberry and Harvey Nichols among others from 2.30pm to 3.30pm and a virtual event, hosted by beauty influencer Huda Beauty, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
Finally, on Saturday 17 October, artist Zeinab Al Hashemi will take part in a Q&A session from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. For this year’s WoF, Zeinab has transformed the mall’s central atrium into a stylish art space to house the Swarovski-commissioned art installation. Thirty-three prismatic hexagons make up the Instagram worthy spot, to represent spiritual creation and transformative thinking, in line with WoF’s theme of ‘Evolution’.
Zeinab’s Q&A will be followed by a highly informative and fun Christian Louboutin Masterclass, taking place from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
The mall’s atrium will also house the interactive Procedural Art Eyes and Lips video wall feature that will highlight the latest eye and lip make-up trends, as worn by fashion influencers and personalities, and displayed on dozens of screens. Visitors to the mall will be able to have their eyes and lips professionally done in the latest colours and tones before their photo is uploaded to the video wall.
A Harper’s Bazaar Fashion Window, boasting a 360-degree collection of looks from the shop windows of famous stores including the London icons Selfridges, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Mason, will complete WoF’s collection of engaging installations.
Mall of the Emirates and WoF will celebrate the achievements of women in the UAE, and in particular Emirati and Arab expatriate women, at this year’s Arab Women Awards. This year’s ceremony will take place in accordance with strict social distancing and health and safety rules.
The event, which will take place at the mall’s central atrium activation space, will be the culmination of this year’s WoF with female philanthropists, entrepreneurs, fashion icons, business leaders, sports stars and more honoured in 17 prestigious categories.
